I’m in the process of writing my third book. It’s entitled: What’s Your Word? I look forward to sharing it with you and the world in 2022.
God is teaching me a lot about the power of words. I felt very led of God to apply to speak at TEDx Hickory in November. I wasn’t chosen. Their theme was: COLLIDE. I got to studying collide and stumbled upon the law of physics for collisions.
A collision is momentum plus impulse. We see this all the time in the collision of physical objects. As I studied this, God showed me how the same law is true with words.
Words have momentum. God said, “Let there be light and there was light”. Light has momentum. In order for there to be light in our house, we have to impulse it by flipping the switch.
We see the negative reality of the collision of words all around us. Someone yells a derogatory name at someone and ends up getting shot. That’s a momentum word being impulsed.
Try it. Run into a crowded mall and yell, “gun!” and watch what happens! On second thought, please don’t do that!
With a single word you can start a fight or riot. You can get yourself killed. You can destroy another person’s life. It’s momentum plus impulse. Words have momentum.
The opposite is true. A single word can also bring life, peace, and prosperity. Words have momentum but you have to impulse them.
How?
In Deuteronomy 30 we are given a great example of this:
“Now listen! Today I am giving you a choice between life and death, between prosperity and disaster. “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!” Deuteronomy 30:15, 19 (NLT)
The word life has momentum. Life results in prosperity.
The word death also has momentum. Death results in disaster.
The impulse of either words occurs as we choose one over the other.
You have to choose.
Too many people are alive without ever having chosen to live – chosen life. Yes a beating heart proves life but it doesn’t guarantee that we are actually choosing to live. Deuteronomy isn’t just about physical life but spiritual life. A life that’s only made possible through a dynamic living relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
God promises life results in prosperity. That’s momentum, but you have to choose. It’s a continual choice everyday. All the momentum in the world is of no value until we impulse it.
Deuteronomy establishes that we impulse the momentum and God has created words to have by choosing them. He pleads with us to choose life. That’s impulse.
When we accept this law: momentum plus impulse results in either prosperity or disaster and we start seeing it all around us.
What you’ll quickly notice is: we could but don’t actively choose the words that result in prosperity often enough. Why not?
Let’s change that! You have to choose!
Is prosperity a chance or a choice? Is it a possibility or a promise?
You have to choose!
According to Deuteronomy, prosperity is a choice. If that is true then we have to choose.
You have to choose.
