It’s time we get to the point. God’s whole point of His glory is intimacy. Ready?
Earlier, I sensed God show me that it would help people understand references to house, temple, and kingdom in Bible if they interchanged these words with the word presence.
When David says that he will dwell in the house of the Lord forever he wasn’t talking about a brick and mortar building. He was talking about God’s presence. David is saying, “I will dwell in God’s presence forever”.
We can too! Whether we realize it or not God has promised to be with us now. The Bible says he is ever present. Some people are waiting to go to heaven to be in God’s presence but that is a shame as they are already in God’s presence 24/7 365 today.
When Jesus says to seek first God’s kingdom of God he is not saying seek a walled fortress. He is saying seek God’s presence above everything.
Now I sense God showing me that references in the Bible for glory can be interchanged with the word intimacy.
When Moses encountered God’s glory he experienced God’s goodness, love, and compassion. It was a very intimate encounter with God.
Sometimes we think to encounter God’s glory is about smoke, incense, thunder and lightning. We expect it to be like a magic show.
No. I encourage you to interchange every reference to God’s glory or giving glory to God with the word intimacy. Like this…
“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” – 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NLT)
Paul is saying, “do everything to gain intimacy with God”.
To give God glory is to give him intimacy with you. God’s whole pursuit has been YOU. You’ll never give him more glory than when you give him everything you are.
Intimacy is “in to me see”. It’s being so real and close with one another. It’s removing the “off limits” signs. It’s opening up all the closets in your life. It’s coming clean. It’s falling in love knowing you’re hiding nothing from God. It’s knowing God. Loving him and experiencing him day-by-day in your life.
God is all about intimacy. It’s God’s greatest gift. It is your greatest gift. Interchange glory for intimacy and watch your understanding come alive!
